Community
Transoma has a long tradition of support for the communities we serve through volunteerism, financial support and commitment to causes for the betterment of humanity. Following is a list of causes we currently support.
Transoma sponsors at least two blood drives per year. We work closely with the American Red Cross to organize the blood drives so they are convenient for our employees. We help the American Red Cross by educating and motivating our employees to become blood donors. The blood mobile comes directly to our facility.
United Way is a Transoma local charity of choice. We conduct successful campaigns each year to support the national organization's many important programs including those that help children and youth succeed, that strengthen and support families, improve access to healthcare, and promote independence and economic self-sufficiency.
At the holidays, Transoma employees are major purchasers of poinsettia plants from the Northern Lights Guild. All proceeds from this fundraiser go the Breast Center of United Hospital, which is the oldest dedicated center in the Twin Cities east metro for comprehensive diagnostic, treatment and support services for women with benign and malignant breast disease. Transoma pays for 50% of all purchases.
Each year Transoma employees participate in the MS 150 Bike Tour, in which participants bike from Duluth to the Twin Cities to raise money for MS research and to help the many programs offered by the MS Society for people affected by multiple sclerosis. Employees not participating are asked to sponsor each Transoma employee bicyclist in the tour.
Transoma is an official Campaign Partner of Community Health Charities Minnesota (CHCM). CHCM is the Minnesota affiliate of Community Health Charities, the nation's largest workplace giving organization devoted exclusively to health concerns. As a campaign partner, we help to address issues of chronic illness through education, volunteerism and giving. Our employees make contributions to fight chronic health conditions like cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer's disease.
